Why has the tournament name changed?

We have retained the tournament’s namesake as a tribute to its founder, George Anich, however, our affiliation with BNP Paribas and the Indian Wells Tennis Garden has concluded. This change is a result of logistical challenges, primarily due to the construction and deconstruction of grand stands for the BNP Paribas Open, which has raised liability concerns and limited court availability for our matches.
